Duane E. Baum, Esq. is the president and founder of the Law Offices of Duane E. Mr. Baum opened his law firm in January 2014, after working as an associate for several years for The Strauss Law Firm, P.A., a full-service commercial litigation firm based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he practiced in various areas of litigation including, foreclosure defense, condominium and homeowners’ association matters, landlord/tenant disputes and commercial contract issues. Additionally, Mr. Baum specialized in real estate transactions.
Mr. Baum received his Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School in New York in 2004, where he was a member of the prestigious and nationally recognized Moot Court Honor Society receiving the 2004 Alexander and Emily Mehr Moot Court Memorial Award for Outstanding Legal Advocate. In addition, Mr. Baum was awarded as a 2002 NYCLA Judicial Internship Fellow working with the Honorable L. Priscilla Hall, New York Supreme Court. Upon his graduation from Brooklyn Law School, Mr. Baum worked for UBS Wealth Management (Union Bank of Switzerland) in Manhattan, New York as a Regulatory Associate where he drafted and coordinated the company’s written responses to preliminary and formal investigations conducted by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and the various state securities/finance commissions. Mr. Baum completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Science in Business, Management & Finance graduating as a member of the Alpha Sigma Lamda National Honor Society.
Mr. Baum served as a former board member of the Weston Business Council of The Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce and served for two years as a former Chairperson of the Weston Business Council Leads Group where he led the rejuvenation and growth of the membership and developed profitable business alliances among the members. Additionally, Mr. Baum served as an active member of the Americas Community Center, a diverse, non-for-profit organization created in 2001 with a primary emphasis on supporting and improving the Hispanic community of South Florida through business development and networking, educational and other community services. During his time with Americas Community Center, he provided pro-bono legal consultation and representation including the areas of real estate law and foreclosure defense.
Mr. Baum lives with his wife and their two young children in South Florida. Outside of work Mr. Baum enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family, traveling, scuba diving, skiing and mentoring as a leader for his church’s young adult and youth group.
